OCSCO'S Pharmacare Draft Position Statement

The incorporation of Pharmacare into our public health care system, wold to some degree, prevent the need for more costly kinds of care, making the whole system more cost-effective.  Further savings are also available in a public plan by allowing the single payer to negotiate lower prices for the bulk purchase of the most frequently prescribed medications.  By broadening the scope of our publicly funded system we can, therefore, make it more sustainable. 

 

Medication Awareness 

OCSCO has always been supportive of the CAW’s retired workers, but has never been an active participant in their work. By partnering with retirees from the Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers- CAW Local 598 (Sudbury) on this project, OCSCO will be helping the CAW bring its valuable Medication Awareness Program to seniors across Ontario. OCSCO has not previously pursued a medication awareness initiative. The opportunity to partner with the CAW on MAP will strengthen the work of the the CAW’s retired workers and fulfill OCSCO’s mandate to both educate and activate Ontario’s senior populati
