As seen in our December 2015 Newsletter HERE:
OSSCO was pleased to welcome almost 200 seniors, as well as representatives from 25 seniors’ product and service providers, to their 5th Annual Information Day and Conference Fair. The conference began with an introduction by OSSCO Executive Director Elizabeth Macnab and greetings from special guest Giorgio Mammoliti (Councillor, City of Toronto). Once the formalities concluded, Natasha Bridgmohan (The Bridg Group) kicked off the educational programming with the first of five educational sessions.
The other presenters included: Jane Tracogna (ERAssure), Maurice Lelli (Phytogenex), Hartley Ellis & Courtney Hewitt (Ontario College of Trades), and Lilia Schillingford (Ontario Energy Board). Attendees were able to gain valuable information to help them make informed decisions about the things that matter to seniors; their health, financial security and their homes.
Prior to the conference and throughout the day, attendees also turned the vendor area into a lively marketplace. The vendors interacted with each of the guests, showcasing their products and services to a captive audience of GTA seniors from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
The event was held once again at the Jamaican Canadian Centre, whose staff and volunteers are always reliable when OSSCO is in the building. They helped throughout the day and were integral in helping our volunteers serve lunch (catered by Caribbean Queen Jerk Drum) and at our registration table in the morning.
We received 70+ evaluations from our guests and the consensus was that the 2015 event was a huge success. Our attendees were ecstatic about the information they received from our session sponsors and vendors.
The theme this year was “Living Your Way” an ode to our mission to empower seniors through education and information, which we feel our partners in 2015 knocked out of the park.
We could not have done it without the knowledge experts who presented on November 17th and we are grateful to have received such glowing support from all involved.
