Over 250 seniors, 33 exhibitors and 20 volunteers attended the OSSCO` Premier Seniors Conference on November 15th, 2016 at the Jamaican Canadian Association in Toronto. OSSCO brought together 6 speakers from across Ontario and knowledge experts in their field to share their best practices. The event was a huge success and one of the prime highlights was presenting Natalie Mehra with the Dan Benedict Award for all her hard work on behalf of Ontario seniors.

The conference began with a welcome opening remarks by  OSSCO Chair Claude Hould and greetings from special guest Mario Sergio, MPP York West. Once the formalities concluded, Natasha Bridgmohan, 36 Retire Your Way - Learn about Mortgages, Investments & Credit! (The BridgGroup) kicked off the educational programming with the first of six educational sessions. These sessions provided participants with the opportunity to increase awareness on how to live their life to the fullest.

The other presenters included: Andreas Seelisch (Hearing Solutions),  Brent Potts (Arbor Memorial), Carolyn Hummel (Canada Revenue Agency’s Community), Joe Burns (Listen UP! Canada, Hearing Life Canada) and Mark Faiz (Personalized Prescribing Inc).

Our attendees were thrilled about the information they received from our session sponsors and exhibitors. This valuable information will benefit them to make informed decisions about the things that matter to their health, financial security and benefits, and credits, and the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.

Prior to the conference and throughout the day, attendees also turned the exhibitor’s area into a lively square. The exhibitors interacted with attendees, showcasing their products and services to a captive audience of GTA seniors from a variety of cultural backgrounds.

Jamaican Canadian Association seniors, staff and volunteers did an amazing job. They assisted throughout the day and were integral in helping us advance and achieving our mission to empower seniors through education and information and we feel our partners in 2016 knocked it out of the ball park.

According to attendees feedback, the 2016 event was a huge success! A big thanks to our silver sponsor Breckles Insurance Brokers, bronze sponsor Canadian Implant Study and Unifor Retired Workers Department for their continued support of our endeavours including a donation to the annual event.
